Making your home safe and secure with a home security system used to be considered a luxury but with the increasing crime rate and inflation a system becomes a necessity. If your home and privacy is ever invaded you most likely will be in the market for an investment in a home security system right away. Nobody wants to feel fear while sleeping at night or when you are trying to relax at home. Therefore you should look into buying those systems before you are invaded.

Since there are many different home security systems on the market you will see that the decision on which one to buy may become a difficult one. You may be looking at a DIY (do- it-yourself) system or you may want to go with the full blown system monitored by a home security company. The point is you should study all the options before you make the decision on which one would be best for you.

One consideration will be should you get an outdoor home security system or indoor system. You may want to invest in some cheap security cameras that will monitor all of your property by computers. If money is not an object there are high tech systems that monitor body heat or motion. At the very least you want to invest in good locks for your doors and windows to keep out intruders. Also a good part of a system would include smoke, fire, and carbon monoxide alarms.

An investment in a good home security system is not only essential to protecting your valuables and sentiments but also your peace of mind. Take the time today to look into the right security system for your home and family.

Some of the most popular diversion safes are made to like books, soda cans, candles, or even a coin. You’ve probably seen them used in spy movies where a microfilm is hidden inside a very small item such as a hollowed out coin. These types of items have been used by the military at least as far back as WW I when rifle ammunition was used as diversion safes.

Today diversion safes are normally used to conceal small items such as drugs, money, or jewelry. The types of diversion safes made now are very creative including such things as soda cans of every type, beer cans, fake food cans, and even scented candles.

These safes may not be able to hold all your valuables but they are considered to be one type of home security safes. They can be a very important part of your home security. Below are links to some of the more popular diversion safes made to resemble common everyday items. Click on the link to find more information on these safes.

As we’ved discussed in earlier posts cheap security cameras usually are called cheap because of the lack of bells and whistles which the more expensive cameras have. This one will go a little better in that they don ‘t even work. That’s right! They are fake cameras that are used as a ploy to scare the would be intruder away while they are deciding if your home is the one.

For less than $20 you get two cameras with real screws and a real looking cable coming from them. I would think many crimminals are not smart enough to know that these are fakes. When talking about cheap security cameras you can’t get any cheaper than this!

Others may assume that you have a complete video surveillance system in operation at your premises. It looks EXTREMELY realistic with the fake lens, dummy invisible IR illuminators. With real camera housing, it is hard for staff & thieves to notice if the camera is real or imitation. It is easy to assemble with mounting bracket and screws at the doorway or elsewhere. Absolutely inexpensive!

OK, so now you know you need protection for your home. It needs protected from such things as fire or extreme weather and also from break-ins and vandalism. So who do you call, one of the major companies that provide professional home alarm and home security? Or do you look closer to home and choose yourself and a DIY home security system? By the way (BTW) the DIY means do- it -yourself.

Many people these days choose to do many of the home projects including security systems on their own considering the abundance of Home Depots, and Lowes in this country. If you watch the commercials on TV though the professional guys recommend not leaving your home security to an amateur. That’s all fine and dandy but really who knows your home and neighborhood better than you? Not some guy sitting behind a computer keeping an eye on hundreds if not thousands of homes at one time. Heck this guy might not even live in your city, state, or country and you want to trust his abilities?

I am a take charge guy, some would say a control freak, but I just feel safer knowing that I am on the job. If you feel the same way I suggest you read a couple books and visit your local hardware store to find out what is available and if you are up to the job DIY. Then make your decision based on your research not some pamphlet given to you by a security company. Good Luck and get to work on that DIY home security system.

When looking and installing a cheap security camera, or should we say a less expensive one, we can look at it from two approaches. One approach is to buy a fake security camera and try to fool someone into thinking it is real. If they think they are being watched they may not do whatever you are trying to prevent them from doing such as breaking into your home or in the case of an employee not robbing you blind or sleeping on the job. The second approach is to hide the camera in a place where the person or persons being watched can’t see it and then observe the person doing what they normally do.

Now either approach can be effective or ineffective. In the first instance, fake security cameras are easy to spot in many cases especially cheap security cameras. They are just not made out of the best material and once someone catches on to it being fake it becomes useless. In the second instance, a camera will be effective because the person will probably assume they are not being watched and will act as they would. The bad part is it’s almost impossible to hide a security camera in a space where someone may look for it. So it is up to the person placing a security camera to decide what approach to use. Below is an example of each approach. Click on the product links to find out more information about each camera.

The Everfocus ESD200/N-4 1/3″ Color Smoke Detector Camera uses the second approach. This video camera fits inside a fake smoke detector and keeps an eye on whatever you want it too. Just install the smoke detector and the camera is inside. I don’t think many people looking for a hidden camera would look insdie a smoke detector. More Information including price can be found by clicking on the following link: Everfocus ESD200/N-4 1/3″ Color Smoke Detector Camera

This OUTDOOR FAKE / DUMMY SECURITY CAMERA w/ Blinking Light is a great but cheap security camera. It even has a blinking LED light to make it more realistic. Again the problem comes if it is ever found to be fake it becomes totally ineffective and the person who has installed it will never know. The link for this camera is: OUTDOOR FAKE / DUMMY SECURITY CAMERA w/ Blinking Light

It’s no secret crimes against property have been increasing in the past few years. Whether it be just a sign of the times or response to the economy dipping this rise in crime should make all homeowners evaluate their home security needs.

Many companies promote their equipment and services as the best even though all home security needs are different. If you choose to hire a professional to do the work or you take it on as a DIY home security project you must first evaluate your needs and the equipment required to make your home security system comparison. In this post we will try to offer up some ideas and services to meet your home security needs.

DIY Home Security Systems
There are numerous companies offering do it yourself home security systems. For example a good company I’ve come across recently offers some very competitive prices on security system components. This company, IntelSpy.com has a good special right now on some decent gear make sure you check out this: BUILD YOUR PERSONAL SECURITY SYSTEM FOR UNDER $65! and other stuff they sell.

A wired system that performs well is the

Before selecting a DIY home security system there are a few things you must look at. First of all check the quality of the system. Examine the components of the system for durability as well as design. An inexpensive DIY home security system could end up costing you more in the long run if it doesn’t work well due to you having to call someone to repair problems you can’t handle yourself. So it when checking out the different systems don’t always use price as a factor.

Another factor to consider is if your homeowner’s insurance company will approve a DIY home security system as an alternative to a professionally installed system. If your insurance company does not approve DIY systems then the discounts given on a professionally installed system may outweigh the cost benefit for a do it yourself system.

If cost is not a factor and you get enjoyment out of DIY projects as many homeowners do then you should by all means do it yourself. If that is the road you choose the recommendation is to do your research, get the system that meets or exceeds you requirements for a system. Make sure you have the right tools for the job and watch out for hazards such as electrical shock.
