I’m sure we can all agree that crime rates have risen in recent years. We need to do everything possible to protect our home and family. A home security sign can be a great deterrent to someone trying to invade your home or business. It not only warns them that your home is protected by security it may even notify them what type of security you have. For example, a beware of dog sign may notify the potential invader that you have a big dog waiting to bite their leg off if they enter.
Even if you don’t have a real security system a home security sign that implies that you do can’t scare off bad people. Add window stickers and fake security cameras and you can have the making of a cheap DIY Home Security system that will be effective.
Some examples of a home security system can be stakes signs which are simply signs attached to wooden stakes and placed on your property. They usually have a name of a security company on the sign. Small adhesive security stickers can be placed on doors and windows to warn or notify criminals that this home is protected by a home security system.
Home security signs are one of the first levels of outdoor home security as well as overall home security. Hopefully a home invader will see your sign and move on to another area or just decide it’s not worth getting caught.

The following are the essential parts of many alarm systems. As stated earlier on this site all home security systems and home alarms won’t work for everybody and personal choice prevails but this a good idea of what makes up your basic system.
1. Outdoor home security is your first level of security and this is usually the presence of yard signs, window decals, and cameras that advertise your home’s protection. A recent study showed that homes without a home alarm system are about 3% more likely to be burglarized. So you should let the bad people know that your home is protected.
2. Detectors such as smoke detectors and fire detectors provide an inside layer of protection when included in a home security system package. These detector will notify an alarm company of the presence of fire, smoke, or poisonous gases.
3. All systems should include a back-up power supply to keep it working during power outages and extreme weather.
4. All professionally installed systems should be connected to monitoring and installation services. These companies work with you to keep your home, family, and valuables safe and secure and notify emergency services at the appropriate times.
5. Alarm components and hardware include such things as control panels, wireless systems, monitors, keypads, and remotes. These alarms systems parts help you arm and disarm the system, set security codes, and automatically secure your home during home invasion attempts.

The peace of mind that comes from knowing that your family and valued possessions are secure and safe is one of the greatest things you can achieve. In many homes security means such things as locks on the doors and windows, various sensors such as motion sensors, and alarms. The next level of home security is something that is done for outdoor home security and that is a home video security system.
The latest technology offers the homeowner a wide variety of home video security systems that can be installed as a do it yourself (diy) project or systems, because of their complicity, that must be installed by professionals. Either way when you choose a home security system you are looking for two things in particular.
First you are looking for an outdoor home security system that will cover all areas of your home you want to keep secure. Before you buy and install the cameras check and see how much area each camera will cover. The most popular places to put cameras are the front door and backdoor but you must also cover any areas that are hidden or blind spots. When a burglar is looking at houses they always look for the darkest and out of the way areas to sneak in.
Secondly, you should place indoor cameras in children’s rooms and elderly or disabled person’s rooms. With the help of your home video security system monitor you will be able to see what is going on in these areas. And while speaking of monitoring you should look for a system that you can monitor through an internet connection while you are away from home.
Other features you should keep in mind when choosing a system for home security is the ability of outside cameras to work during severe weather conditions and the ability of the cameras to tilt, pan, and be moved by remote control.
The importance of a good home video security system for your home cannot be stressed enough because you don’t want to find out your home is not secure the hard way. Check out the security systems listed below for a sample of what is available.

As discussed in earlier posts the saying “You get what you pay for” applies quite often when it comes to home security. If you want the best protection for your family and possessions you have to spend money. But if you have to cut corners, as is the case in today’s economy, you may be able to do it with a cheap security camera.
Using the word cheap before a description of anything raises flags and gives illusions of foreign made items which fall apart in your hand after one use. In this case cheaper cameras probably are just as high quality as more expensive but the features available with the less expensive might be fewer. On the cheaper brand you may have a smaller coverage area or the ability to sweep, tilt, and run at night might not be available. A cheaper camera may not be as durable as the more expensive and may not include such things as hardware or a case which can be bought separately.
Although you are giving up features with cheap security cameras these may not be features you really need. Everyone’s priorities are different and the most important thing is not how much your camera costs but that you even have a camera. Another saying that could apply would be “Something is better than nothing” when it comes to your camera and home security.
Included below are a few cheap security cameras that should work fine for outdoor home security. Click on the links to find out more information.

Home security systems are usually bought for the same reason and that is to protect your family, home and possessions. Many times when people compare home security systems it is done by price. But should price be the most important factor when it comes to protecting everything valuable to you? Not in every case because like the saying goes “You get what you pay for.” Over the years alarm systems have improved considerably and like most items such as computers and automobiles the higher prices usually mean extra features, features that may be very important to your security.
Statistics show that homes with security systems can prevent burglaries and crimes against the owners. Many times when a burglar is casing homes for robbing he will pass over the homes with home security systems due to the increased chance of getting caught. That fact alone should convince all home owners that a home security system is essential.
As the homeowner you must be familiar with all that your system can and can’t do and you should discuss these things with the company installing the system before signing the contract. If you find a system that you think will be the one, you should still compare home security systems from other companies. Some companies have training sessions for new customers or at least a very good training video.
Another concern when you compare home security systems is how many levels of coverage you have. For example, are all the doors and windows covered by alarms or are just certain ones. It may just be that the lower priced system offers substandard or inadequate coverage of your home. Make sure all areas can be seen by the cameras and there are no blind spots in camera coverage.
To sum it up you and you alone must compare systems and security companies and make the choice that you feel will protect what you should feel is the most important things. Don’t always go with the cheapest.
