I imagine creating a DIY home security system would take a lot of planning. However, if done correctly, could be a fantasitc Addition to your home.
Your right about home insurance though, I'm not sure whether an insurance company would approve a DIY system.

U can save some money if u do it yourself.
But the benefit of having a proper security firm installing the system and then run it in case of emergency is that if for example somebody breaks in and then puts the taps on just to distroy the property after they took what they needed then you might get water damage in the house . if u have a proper company that comes out in case of an alarm they can minimize the damage.

maybe a stupid example but it happend to my friend.

this is great page!

You can always save some money if you go the "Do it yourself" route with all kinds of products. I haven`t thought of DIY home security but i`ll do a research. Nice article.

I would say a big YES to a DIY home security system. I've done it before for my parents and I will do it again for my new home.
And quality is a must in my opinion.
