Cheap security cameras are not usually cheap because of the amount of equipment but they are called cheap because of lack of bells and whistles. What you encounter in a cheap security camera kit is a video monitor and a power supply and cables.
Since many cheap security cameras are not wireless systems someone with at least a little bit of knowledge must install and hide the cables and power supply. If you, the homeowner, is mechanically inclined or have done such projects as extending phone lines or TV cable you should be able to get the job completed. If not, you may have to hire someone and figure that into the cost of the system you’ve purchased and this cheap security camera may no longer be as inexpensive as before.
Kits containing cheap security cameras may include the capability to connect to your home computer with the right software. Again the expense of putting this software into the system may make the price of this out of the cheap range.
The bottom line when shopping for a security system is the old saying “you get what you pay for” A cheap security camera will give you the basics and nothing more while a more expensive system will give you all the bells and whistles.
